How to Import an RHD Jetour T2 to Malawi: Step-by-Step Buyer's Guide

Malawi is landlocked, so the corridor you choose matters as much as the car. A step-by-step guide from order to registration.

Car carrier trucks transporting new vehicles to the port for export

To import a Jetour T2 RHD to Malawi, order with a written proforma invoice, ship to Beira, Nacala or Dar es Salaam, move the vehicle under transit to Malawi, and clear it with the Malawi Revenue Authority before registration. Malawi drives on the left, so the T2's right-hand drive is standard there.

1. Choose the configuration

For Lilongwe and Blantyre city use, the 1.5TD front-wheel-drive 2026 Jetour T2 RHD is the economical choice. For NGO projects, rural clinics or estates, the 2.0TD 4WD with rear diff lock handles unpaved roads and rainy-season conditions better.

2. Which port should you use?

PortCountryTypical use
BeiraMozambiqueShort corridor to Blantyre and southern Malawi
NacalaMozambiqueRail/road corridor towards central Malawi
Dar es SalaamTanzaniaNorthern Malawi and buyers combining cargo with Tanzania

Ask your clearing agent which corridor is currently most reliable; conditions change through the year.

3. Get a quote and confirm the PI

We quote CIF to your chosen port. Check the proforma invoice for engine, drive, seats, steering (RHD), colours and quantity. See our export process for what a complete PI includes.

4. Shipping and transit

Single units usually travel in a 40HQ container; larger orders can go Ro-Ro. From the port, the vehicle moves in transit to the Malawi border, where your agent lodges the import entry.

5. Duties, clearance and registration

Import duty and taxes are assessed by the Malawi Revenue Authority. Your agent will need the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin where applicable. After clearance, register the vehicle with the road traffic authority.

How long does it take?

In-stock T2s can ship within about 10 working days of payment. Add sea transit and the inland corridor; your agent can estimate the road leg. Our Malawi market guide lists official sources.
